Hockey

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

The pre season hockey games are going on now and the Nashville Predators are off to a slow start only winning one of their first three games. I do not think this will translate to the regular season, I still think the Predators will have a good season and make the playoffs again for the fifth straight season. I am not going to buy season tickets this year with the way things are going we just decided to go on a game by game basis and that is fine with me. We had our season tickets for three years and spent a lot of money at the games with no support from the ownership, they treat the fans like an ATM and just want our money not seeming to care about the desires of the fans themselves.

Price increase

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

With yesterdays paper the local paper that deliver has increased their price, I am not sure how this will effect the sales, but I have a bad feeling with the economy like it is that sales will go down and so will my profit on the papers I do sell. This price increase is really at a bad time for most of the country, with the failed bail out plan for the banks I see doom and gloom on our horizons, for the entire country not just for me and my family. We will ride this out for a couple of weeks to see how it effects our bottom line and then make a decision on if we will continue to sell the newspaper or try something else, a nice warm beach with a cold beer is sounding better and better every minute to me.

4-0 start

Monday, September 29th, 2008

The Tennessee Titians are off to their best start in franchise history, at 4-0 they are at a level never reached by a Titians team here in Nashville or in the years in Houston as the Oilers. What a game it was too, the defense played very well and the offense did enough to win the game, there was even a spark of life in the special teams which we have not seen this year at all. It looks like a great season is unfolding but it is early and they could go 4-12 if the wheels fall off. Let us hope they keep on the right path and keep Kerry Collins under center where he belongs, I think the very worst thing the team could do is bring back Vince Young who will pull the wheels off the team if he has his way.

Birthday bash

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

For my 50th birthday the family has planned no party, no gifts, I am not sure they even realize that it is my birthday or as I fear no one really cares. I got a card form my mother in law and a call from my sister in Oklahoma. One of the guys at work gave me a card tonight so all is not lost I guess I will just go eat my piece of chocolate covered cheesecake and whine to myself for the rest of the night about my misery. Maybe I will get taken out to dinner for my next birthday, but I will not hold my breath and wait to see if that is the case.

Birthday blues

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

My birthday is coming up next week and I really am in a funk over it, I am creeping up on fifty years old and sometimes I feel like I have not gotten everything done that was my destiny. I am not saying I am to old to get my life in order and get some fun things done, but with work and family commitments it is tough to find the time that used to be abundant and I am not sure I want to disrupt the flow of the family and make huge changes to the way we run our lives at this time, so the birthday blues will have to do at this point at least for a few days anyway.
