Monday is Labor Day and like most years I have to work on this holiday. A lot of people have the extra day off and some times I wish I was one who got holidays off. It has been many many years since I had a paid holiday off and I guess it will be many more years before it happens again. When you work for yourself it is hard to get paid days off, when you do not work you do not get paid and not getting paid is not in my plans. I hope that everyone has a nice holiday.

One of the very most important things when you are working outside everyday is taking care of your feet, and the very best way I have found to keep my feet in good shape is to have great boots on your feet. The very best work boots that I have ever found are Timberland Boots and I have worn them for many years. In fact ever since I started working outside I have had Timberland Boots on my feet and I will continue this practice until I am not working outside anymore, and then I may just keep wearing these top quality boots when I retire, they feel that good on my feet. In just a few days our contracts with the local newspaper will be over and let me tell you what a relief it has been to come to the end of this nightmare. The newspaper has cut our draw and our ability to make any decent money, it will be a relief to pass this monkey off to someone else. I have already started a part time job a few weeks ago and I will look for more delivery work in the next couple of weeks, I am just going to relax for a while and catch my breath from this 3 year ordeal.

The new job that I started on Wednesday is good, I have not had a lot to do so I cleaned out the delivery van today. I can not believe it was as dirty as it was. It took me most of the day to get it clean enough to ride in. I am not the cleanest person in the world but that van was a mess with a capital M. I filled it up with gas got the oil changed and cleaned it out, I did make one delivery today so the whole day was not a loss. At least now the van is clean enough to stand to be in.

Every day of the week with no days off we have paperwork that has to be finished by a certain time. Also every day I have to count out enough quarters for the delivery drivers to have to service their coin boxes. I know that this does not sound like a lot but it piles up on you. We have only been out of town once in 2 years, that was to go to a fuenaral so that was not a pleasure trip to say the least. If we do not get a day off soon we are going to bust at the seams, even a trip to Memphis would be a treat. Oh well back to work, no rest for the wicked.
